CASE STUDY: 

For this mid-sized pharma company we assessed the value proposition and potential positioning of a novel antibiotic to determine market potential.

CLIENT SITUATION:

  • The client was looking to expand hospital anti-infective franchise and needed support identifying and evaluating assets
  • This mid-sized pharma company had engaged in preliminary deal discussions regarding novel treatment for severe skin infections

TRINITY'S ROLE:

  • Due diligence and creation of dynamic forecast to support evaluation of potential product acquisition
  • Detailed market landscape for a Bacterial skin and skin structure infections (BSSSI), including market sizing, treatment flow, current standards of care, competitive intelligence, and unmet needs
  • Analyzed location of product use (ER, hospital inpatient, hospital discharge, retail setting/primary care), as site of care had significant implications for price and reimbursement potential for PRODUCT X, as well as strategies for sales and marketing
  • Built a dynamic Excel®-based forecast model that allowed the client to visualize multiple scenarios for PRODUCT X

DATA COLLECTION - PRIMARY MARKET RESEARCH (PMR):

  • PMR conducted with key stakeholders to determine value and positioning of PRODUCT X

FORECAST RESULTS – SEGMENTED BY SITE OF CARE:

  • 2020 peak sales for PRODUCT X did not meet threshold value for asset

PROJECT OUTCOMES:

  • Trinity recommended the client not pursue this asset after identifying significant hurdles to adoption and widespread use
  • Trinity continues supporting this client with asset scans and has developed multiple user-friendly Excel®-based models for asset evaluations
