CASE STUDY: Portfolio prioritization
CASE STUDY:
For this small biotech company, we developed a list of high priority targets to pursue in order to diversify its portfolio.
CLIENT SITUATION:
- Client is a small biotech company with proprietary technology
- Client requested that Trinity explore candidates beyond their existing clinical development program in search of promising targets/concepts
- Goal was to create a list of 15-20 high priority candidates that would be attractive to potential partners
TRINITY'S ROLE:
Part I
- Create a “candidate universe” as a starting point for deeper analysis
- Scanned available resources
- Built database of ~80 Ph II+ candidates that detailed specific attributes to be evaluated and prioritized
Part II
- Thorough investigation of prioritized candidates
- Reviewed with client to create list of ~25 higher priority targets
- PMR and additional secondary research refined list to 9 high priority targets
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES:
Prioritization of target peptides
A step-wise process afforded the final candidate list
PROJECT OUTCOMES:
Trinity recommended a set of targets that were reviewed by the board of directors for potential inclusion into the client’s portfolio
- Trinity provided rationale for each candidate’s inclusion based on clinical validation and market potential
- Also gave strategic insight regarding the potential positioning of these candidates within the biotech’s existing portfolio
